I'd be more concerned with the radio dropping into SAFE mode and (1) not
knowing the unlock code and/or (2) having used up the limited number of unlock
cycles (iirc the Symphony-II was only good for 5 unlock cycles before it was
done for good)...

I've got symphony I and had to unlock it several times, but can't remember
if it's been more than 5...

I susoect/hope that there is some misunderstanding here. Many radios
implement an ever increasing delay between unlock attempts - so it might
allow five before forcing you to wait an hour before trying again, then
two hours etc...
