S6 suspension replacement
Hi all
Unfortunately the time has come to replace the shock absorbers on my 1995 S6
Avant. I was wondering what aftermarket fittings are available and advice
from anyone who has changed theirs from the standard audi spec would be
appreciated. Is changing the springs a good idea too? Also any
recommendation as to where to get the job done would be appreciated, my
local specialist from who I bought the car 3 years ago unfortunately is not
as specific to the S6 as he is the 'normal' audis.
I am located in the UK (north east England)
TIA

Go to
http://www.s-cars .org
or
http://www.urs4.com/technical/suspension.html
I think the concensus of opinion would be to go with the Bilstein shocks
with Eibach springs. Unfortunately the Eibach springs are no longer
manufactured but you may be able to find some still. I actually have a set
in my garage waiting for a set of shocks.
The only thing to watch for the alignment. The new lowered shocks require a
new correction camber plate to keep the alignment in spec. There is a US
company that sells them - go to
http://www.ecstuning.com/s4s6camberplatespage.htm
If you find a UK or Euro source for parts I'd be interested as I'm a ex-pat
Brit and in and out of UK a couple of times a year.
I have a 96 S6 with 87500kms (52000 miles). How many miles do you have on
yours?
Cheers,
Tony

Re: S6 suspension replacement
SACHS(BOGE) are OEM shocks for Audis I believe
In any case only go with BOGE or Bilstein they will last the longest.
Bilstein will be stiffer ride though
