Question re. '97 A4 1.8
Hi All,
I have just done a service on my 1997 A4 1.8 (20 valve) and now I see that,
every time I start the car, the word "OIL" flashes in the odometer portion
of the speedo.
I presume this is the on-board-computer which requires resetting?
Can anyone tell me how to do this, or point me in the right direction,
please?
Many thanks,
James

Unfortunately, on a '97 A4 you cannot reset it on your own. You either have
to go to an Audi dealer or find someone with a VAG-COM tool or buy one
(www.ross-tech.com).

Re: Question re. '97 A4 1.8
All you need is a service reset tool, eurocarparts in the UK stock them for
£49, you will probably find something similar at an Audi specialist near
you, it has the OBD-II plug on, just plug it in, switch on you ignition, &
press the button, you can reset the service warnings too,
Steve.

Re: Question re. '97 A4 1.8
Unfortunately I'm in South Africa - we don't have such luxuries as
Eurocarparts!
Any idea if there is a part number, or better still, a schematic of the
tool, so that I can build one?
Many thanks,
James
