Oil Filter Recomendations Please
I have an 2001 Audi A4 1.8t (turbo) Quattro.
I am sick of paying the high price for the dealer oil changes and want to do
it myself.
The dealer want $17 for a filter. Can anyone tell me where I can order
genuine Audi filters for less or recommend an equally high quality
alternative filter. I fear that AutoZone and PepBoys don't sell a quality
product.
Thank you.

Have a look at the forums at www.audiworld.com.
You should also find that VAG have now advised the use of a larger oil
filter and synthetic oil in the 1.8T engines. Recommend you find out about &
read up on this.
The original part is the 068-115-561B & the larger unit is the 06A-115-561B
(I think I have those part numbers the right way round!). The "new" larger
unit is actually the filter from some much older VAG diesel engines!
Alternative (and perfectly good) filters are made by Mann (who make the OEM
VAG units anyway) and also Puralator. A larger sized Mann filter that fits
1.8/1.8Ts is the W940/25
