This reminds me of what we used to do with our cars that had a
traditional air cleaner - the big round one that sat on top of the carb
- back in the day - we would flip the top upside down, which would
create a space around the entire circumference of the air cleaner that
would allow much more air into the carb while still sealing against the
top of the filter element. It would also make a cool roar when you
really nailed the gas...... For a reason lost in my memory banks, we
called it 'The Bonzo Ward Memorial Flip the Air Cleaner Trick'....

Oh yeahhhh.... still can hear the echoes from the 'ole man's 1976
Oldsmobile 88 with the 455 Rocket engine's breather lid flipped....
Lord, doesn't that convert to about 7.45L of displacement????? All for a
paltry emission-choked 190bHp.... Glory Days indeed.
