Yep - it is possible, but how well the damage is disguised depends on
the nature of the damage. Windscreen repair is fairly common in the UK
- insurance companies tend to have an excess (deductible in american
speak?) of around £50 for windscreen replacement, but will cover a
repair in full.
I had stone damage to the screen when my RS6 was less than a week old!
I was not keen to have the screen replaced, so have put up with a repair
which is not quite invisible.
Whoops, more language differences - for windscreen or screen, read
windshield!

I have 3 or 4 stone dinks in my 1998 A4 windshield that have been
there for 5 or 6 years and never grown or changed. If these two
blemishes don't interfere with vision, leave them alone until/unless
one grows. These windshields are tough.

d;o) I'm retired military and have met my fare share of British citizens, so I
am more than aware of *lots* of language differences. Bumpershoots and prams
and lorries and boots, etc. But my favorite is "Will you knock me up in the
morning?"

Dings without cracks are one thing. Unfortunately, you missed the part where
Dave sez "I have a stone dink and 1/2 crack". If there are *already* cracks
emanating from the ding, you can bet they won't be left alone for long.
As for "these windshields are tough", they may stop a flying body due to their
tempering, but that same tempering makes cracks walk like freakin' dogs...

Re: Glass repair
I was at a local garage a few years ago when a British woman came in and
told the mechanic her teenage daughter needed her "hooters adjusted"
