By decreasing the "sprung weight" of the car, you get better gas mileage.
Unfortunately, that weight reduction consists mainly of lightening your
wallet. :P
None of these scams works. If they did, you can bet they'd be beating a
path to Consumer Reports to have them test it! It's like all these quacks
that claim they have paranormal powers, including the idiot on TV who
claims to be talking with dead people... if they REALLY believed what
they're doing, they'd go for the US$1M (one million dollars!!) prize that
James Randi has offered for years to anyone who can prove they have 'em.

Good Point!
Not just Consumer Reports, but the actual car manufacturers. If this
reduced emissions, then they would be pre-installed on cars to help
them pass epa requirements, and you know People's Republic of
California tack on a fee to install them and inspect their operation.
Very good point,

As opposed to the "weight" of the car? If the weight isn't "sprung
weight" it doesn't matter?

Re: California EPA approves sale "The Exhaustonator"
It's amazing that people like that:
Choose life, instead of the barrel of a .44 mag in for breakfast, with no
sense of humor?
Was the person questioning weight as non material a CPA, a doctor or a
pianist?
I've met morticians whom have more of a sense of humor!
Sure there is a definite advantage to lowering sprung weight, as well as
reducing un-sprung weight. Cars aren't built then put on a scale, every
component is chosen for it's weight, then durability. Then the total
assembly, when all the added weights are calculated, the registration weight
is formulated.
Look at the old New York registrations, they used to tell you that the
weight was only an estimate!
Refinish King
PS
Obtain a sense of humor, or cyanide!
