I got my carkit fitted by a car audio specialist, they are usually very good
at hiding cables and stuff within a car. Might be a solution. As for the
black/grey issue - look at my reply to Scott

does anyone know of a used controller for the climate system as shown on the
picture in the above link?
My A6 2.5 TDI has the exact same controller. but it is defect.
