Mass Air Flow sensor. Fancy name for fancy piece of heated wire that sits in
the induction airflow. The extent that the heated wire is cooled by the air
flowing over the heated wire tells the ECU how much & how dense the intake air
is so the correct mixture can be dialed in.

Unfortunately, the induction system is not a benign environment for the MAF,
they get killed over time by intake nasties...

Check the Throttle Body and perform "adaption", then it could also be the
N75 valve and if the car is chipped the stutter would be more noticeable.
That is, if the MAF is OK and the filter comes clean.
