Upgrade what?
You want to change the drivetrain from FWD to quattro? If so, it'll be
easier, cheaper, and more reliable to sell your A6 and buy another one
with quattro already in it.

Not of the 2.8, no. But I did have a 2.7T and I upgraded to an RS6 -
well worthwhile in my opinion!
