Re: used audi tt quattro s line reliable?
The most common complaint is the timing belt. It is made of rubber and degrades over time and use. Audi recommends to replace after 120 K or 3 years, but many have had it snap earlier resulting in law suits...which was eventually resolved. If the car had the engine replaced at 90 K and now has 150 K, then you have a timing belt that is 60 K wear and if it is more than 3 year's ago, I suggest you replace it soon (it can cost you $1500 to $1800 to replace). If it snaps, there will be lot's of engine damage (valves...) and may cost > $5 k. My quess is that if the engine was replaced after 90 K, then it was due to timing belt failure.
Other than this issue, be sure to use only synthetic oil and use premium unleaded gas (highest grade) or the Turbo will fail in the long run. I have a roadster TT 2003 and A4 2004, and take all these precautions, and so far I have had no issues.
