Tensionair 2.8
Hi i am in the middle of replacing the camshaft tensioner for the drivers side on a 2001 A6 with a 2.8ltr , ive read somewhere in another forum that by triming the metal backing plate for the timing belt and removing just the intake camshaft you can wiggle the chain tensionair out, its close but no banana! Ive also read that by clamping the timing belt to the camshaft sprocket you can remove this from the camshaft and the timing wont jump,,,i have my concerns about that, im an ex Ford GM mechanic gotta be honest Audi is a challenge just due to the lack of working room. My question is can i replace the camshaft chain tensionair right bank as you look at the engine or drivers side for want of another term, without screwing about with the timing belt?
any advice much appreciated
