audi a4 trunk doesn't open with when the car is locked

audi a4 trunk doesn't open while the car is locked
Hello all this is my first post in this forum.
I have a 2011 A4 Sline
I just notices that my trunk doesn't open by pressing the handle on the trunk.
It opened fine earlier today. However I got home and wanted to get some stuff from the trunk and went to open it with the handle on the trunk while the car is locked. The light on the convenience key flashes however the trunk doesn't open.
It opens with the conveince key and with the release button at the door.
It also opens by the handle when the car is unlocked.
The only issue is that when the car is locked it won't open with the trunk handle.
Any ideas?
Valet is not on. And in mmi the trunk option is set to off.
