Click to see pic. Anyone know what this is called and why it might have a gas smell coming from black end. Little silver nib seems to have some movement. Other side doesnt smell gassy or have any movement.

 

Well 83 views and no responses. I thought someone may know what this is but its ok. I started digging and found out this is a High Pressure Fuel Pump. The little black end with silver nib is a solenoid. I suppose a very small amount of gas is leaking somewhere around the solenoid which cant be too safe. I found a video that shows how to replace the fuel pump (link below) but i dont know if you can just replace the solenoid. Ill probably just replace the whole pump and cam lifter as shown in video.
