Default Turn Signal Issues

While looking at the A6, a dealer mentioned to me that a lot of them end up with turn signal problems. I have no idea if this is true or not, just wanted to get more opinions. He really didn't give me much information, other than that in most Audis, the turn signal will light up, but won't flash. Can anybody tell me if they really do have issues or if the dealer was just trying to turn us away from the car?

I have had 3 A6s, and never heard any of that. Sounds like bullshit.........

That's kind of what I suspected, but of course I want to get some other opinions. I had not heard anything about this before, so I was kind of suspicious. We are getting tired of car shopping already!

Maybe the guy is talking only about the Audis that "he" sells, who knows with used cars its tricky, but it seems if it was that much of an issue we would have heard about it from Audi before hand.

the turn signal issue is correct, is common, the cause is the flasher which is a single unit along with the hazard switch. must change the flasher/hazard switch. radio must be removed in order to access the switch plug. cheers!

I agree and I have heard of these issues as well. If you got a bit of common sence you can change it for less than $50, it is a very minor thing. The relay is not built as well as the A4 as you tap the turn signal it should blink 3 times as this relay does not hold up properly it dies out it is a very very small issue and this should not turn you away from the car, depends how long that tap function has been used and how badly the relay has been used up. Any electro-mechanicaly operated parts are bound to give.

FYI i just changed another on an 99 A6 quattro, same care as mine and did not have to remove the radio this time, Wires in the back were long enough to access the plug on the back of the hazard switch. carefully romove trim peice, gently with a small flat head screw driver work your way around the outer edge of the switch assembly until you work the two side spring clips beyond the tension point and out it comes. Enjoy! Also have to remove the buisness card storage assembly and also the drink holder asembly and each have 1 wire attached to each.

Can the A6 do the one tap 3 blinks or is this specific to the A4? Possibly a relay swap?
