I have a 2001 C5 A6 2.8. My timing belt was replaced exactly six years ago (almost to the day!). In this time, the car has been driven 45,000 miles (I have an imported car) - mostly summer and mostly highway.

The Audi scheduled maintenance for the timing belt, tensioner, wp, etc. is 100k miles. At my rate, I won't reach 100k until 2020!

Is the age of the belt a factor for replacement? How old is your timing belt?

 

120k km max/ 7 years the rubber starts to deteriorate. But with how pricey our engines are I'd play 5 years to stay safe. And never a km over 120,000.

Rubber doesn't like weather changes too much and we get nothing short of exactly that. As a plumber I can tell u I've seen rubber gasket within valves break after 2 to 3 years. So better safe than sorry.
