Where in the intake the water was sitting?
Have you noticed a loss of power?

Alberta is a dry place (very low humidity), moisture buildup sounds quite unusual.

Where in Alberta are you located?

What year is your 2.7T ?

Some early ones had an issue with a clogged "Vacuum Booster Pump" that can cause your issue.

I am in Edmonton. I'm not sure where the water was located. As for the loss of power, I didn't drive it much this winter, but it seemed to be ok, when there were no problems. After getting it back I have been driving it more and it seems to be fine.

It is a 2001.

If it were mine, I'd inspect the engine to see if you have the "Vacuum Booster Pump", also sometimes refered to as jet pump as seen in the links posted earlier.

Moisture and dirt accumulation in this device is known to cause your symptom. A frozen pump can also cause blown engine oil seals that are time consuming and very costly to fix. Replacing the pump costs much less. Audi did away with this component in the later 2.7Ts when they realized it was causing expensive warranty claims.

If this is your issue, possible thawing has caused symptom to go away for now.
