Default I put a deposit an A6! my first ever Euro/german car!

hey all,

I just put a deposit on a 2001 A6 V6 2.8L Auto trans.

This will be my first experience with a non Japanese car, I'm wondering what you figure I should expect?

I got lucky! found one with 100% dealer proven records and stamps, up to the current 208,000 km's

It's in damn near perfect condition... except It has a few little issues I'd like to ask you guys about.

1) the LCD status screen is starting to act up and missing lines, I understand this is a common problem and I hope someone knows the common fix?

2) the rear drivers side window won't go up and down... any common problems I might check?

3) Will Audi honor their 12 year corrosion perforation warranty even though I'm buying the car? from reading the manual it seems as long as it's a properly maintained car they should honor the warranty no?

Cheers guys, I'll get pics up when I take posession of the car.

Congratulations! I'm on my first Audi as well, a 2001 A6 Avant 2.8!

My car also had the first two issues. I might have the third soon too!

There are lots of places that you can get the LCD repaired. Mine was repaired before I bought the car. It looks great!

My rear passenger door window didn't work either. It was a severed wire in the rubber boot between the B-pillar and the door. I soldered the wire together and it works great now. I still have an issue with the door sensor, but it's a minor inconvenience.

Can't wait to see the photos!

Check out this thread where they talk about the gauge cluster problems.

So I called the dealer that had stamped all the service maintenance books and gave them the vin, hoping they would find something in the records that could tell me if the right amount of work has been done.

He told me everything I needed to know! the car's been well looked after, they have all the records of service at the dealer, including a timing belt done at 147,000.
Then I checked with the license bureau, came back free of all leins, and a clean clear title on the car.

The dealer was really nice and I think I'm going to bring the car to them to do a quick inspection, they offer 2 inspections, a 57 point for like $99, or a 300 point inspection for $299

I bought my first Audi Jan on this year. What a Year. I love her more today than when I first got it. I can tell you that I had some bubbling paint on my roof (Avant Model) and on the bottoms of the door and I just got it fixed under warranty. I could not believe it, I'm the fourth owner and the car has 156K Kms. I have towed a 17'5" Zodiac RIB over 5000Kms and it handled it like a champ. I can't wait for winter and some storms to go out for a drive. These babies are not without their issues. My cluster does the same thing, I have had the tie-rods on the front and I have to get the cam seals changed (she leaks oil on the exhaust manifold) I did the 300 point check after I bought her and they only found those little things that I have already mentioned. I would go that route.

Just my 2 cents
