Question Headlight issues

The front signal lights on my '99 A6 Quattro won't work. I took the car in for repair and was told the wires have gotten hot and melted the plastic housing to the point of no repair and he says he can get aftermarket assemblies for $325 each. In the year I've had this car I have spent a small fortune on repairs, and I'm not sure I want to put another $800 in it. I really can't afford to get it fixed, but it has other things wrong and I couldn't sell it like it is. Any suggestions?
