Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem
Hey guys,
I live all the way in the little town of Fort Collins, Colorado. I'm currently looking at a 1999 Audi A6 with 93k on it, yes an Quattro. I'm getting it for pretty cheap since the Tiptronic magnet has worn out. My question is, how much does it cost to fix that and where could I get the part? I use to own a Land Rover, so yeah I'm used to fixing with my car a lot so fixing it won't be a problem, I just need to know how much it is and what I have to go through. Also, Is it worth it to buy the car for $7,600 USD and then fix that? /Rob |
Re: Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem
Pretty much at any dealer they also ship the parts to your home but it will cost you a bit more $

But do you have any idea how much that will cost? Because if I know that then I will be able to bring the price down a lot more. /Rob |
Re: Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem

The automatic works fine, there's nothing wrong with the transmission at all. It's just that when it is in Tiptronic mode it will not switch gears but pushing the stick forward or reverse, so he thinks that the magnet is bad. Does that make any sense? /Robin |
Re: Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem

I own a '99 1.8t, with the same problem. I do all my own work, but never encountered this problem before. How involved is it to replace?

I solved the problem. I bought another car! haha

Re: Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem
The magnet replacement I hear isn't too hard but getting to it may require some work.
More info here: AudiWorld Forums: Tip magnet Part # 4B0713187C does anyone know if this includes the whole assembly |
Re: Audi A6 Tiptronic Problem
Hello,
The shifter on my tiptronic A6 is loose (sideways), ie, moves from manual to auto when I am taking a turn. Any ideas? My mechanic thought I would have to replace the entire assembly for $700+. Mine is a "99 with $180K+ miles (and still going strong!). Thanks in advance! |
