Dealership vs Independent Garage

Dealership vs Independent Garage
Hi there,
As we all know the cost of going to the dealership feels like an arm and leg, well atleast to me it does so I was wondering if its worthwhile to check out local garages that specialize in Audi/European cars or just stick with the dealership?
I have an A4 2010 and I'm due for the 55k service but i'm cringing at the thought of paying $600 but I would like to get a feel from other Audi owners are you taking your car to the dealership or going else where for service?
Second part to my post, if you are taking for service do you have any where you would recommend? I'm in Oakville so I would be interested in the local/ GTA but if you have someone to share I'm sure other owners would appreciate the tip.
Looking forward to your responses
thanks guys,

Re: Dealership vs Independent Garage
I have been dealing with an independant mechanic for about the past 12 years. My previous car & current while under warrenty. My Audi dealers recognize Total Mecanical in Orangeville and the family that owns this business & I have had no problems with Audi for warrenty work.
The parts used are from Audi & the mechanics are all Volkswagen Audi certified.
My first Audi was maintained by Audi for 6 years before I switched. They have never had a problem with any repair, they only do what is needed, the savings are substantial, & they have free loaners when needed & asked for in advance.
Check them out for your 55000 km you will not be disappointed. Tell John Rob sent you.

I take my wife's BMW X3 and my 2010 Audi A4 to Andy at Clarkson Fine Cars. I find him very honest and reliable, he only works on german cars and has the same equipment as the dealer. Dealer wanted 600 plus for brake pads!!! It's ridiculous.... Andy is great!

Have you considered purchasing Audi Care? If your next service is $600 alone, why not get Audi Care costs $750. I'm not sure what your coverage would be since you already have 55K on the car. But normally if you purchased this it should extend your warranty services a few more years.
