Default VMR V708 Experiences

Hi everybody,

I'm about to order some V708 18" x 8.5" in hyper silver 5x112/66.6/et38 for my B8 A4 with some bridgestone 245/40/18.
I just want to hear some of your opinion about those rims or any VMR rims with +38 offset for the B8 A4.

Like any rubbing on stock height or lowered height? any bent wheels?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Okay guys,

I just ordered my VMR V708 rims from Jacob Perez.

Wire transfer sent yesterday (July 15), now lets play the waiting game to see when it arrives

I have had VMR V708 wheels (18x8.5 et38mm) since spring 2008. They have held up REALLY well for $700 wheels. Although I have curb rashed every single one I think...

None of them bent until the other day when a vicious pothole put a little bend in one. No biggie...I'm just going to buy another wheel, and use the bent one as my summer spare. It holds the air perfectly fine.

sakimano,

how much did you pay for your taxes and duties? and how long did it take it to ship to you?

i have to agree that the 19" do look better but according to the Car and Driver review on different wheel sizes, bigger wheels could actually hurt performance and fuel consumption, not to mention compromise ride comfort.

There should be no duties (NAFTA agreement allows stuff from Mexico and US) and taxes are 13%. What you get charged as a customs brokerage fee is another story. IMO, UPS ground is the worst with Fedex a close second - I'd budget $75-100. I'm curious if you compared pricing via Simply Tire or IT ?

Yeah I notice in city driving fuel consumption has gotten worse but performance is the same
