Default Oil

Hi guys,

I'm confused on the first oil change... I recently purchased a 2011 A4 Quattro Auto. The car now has 730km on it, the oil indicator shows one bar consumed... The dealer said first maintenance is at 8000km or 1 year... Is that too long to keep the oil in? What if the oil indicator gets very low much before 8000km?

Also, should I add some oil in? Mobil 1 0w40?

Since the car is new and under warranty consult with the dealership. I would recommend checking the oil (I check twice per week) and yes if the oil is below the line (when hot) then add to suit. I do know that it is common for the AUDI engine to use some oil requiring a top up.

I change the oil in my car every 7-8K well below what the manufacturer recommends. Its just a personal thing. I also change other fluids and filters well below what the manufacturer recommends.

I should also mention that whatever oil you use and the amount should be documented and relayed back to the dealer when serviced.

If you are going to top up as necessary, make sure the oil you use has the VW 502 additive.

that one bar consumed is only a litre, so basicly when it gets to the bottom you have to add a litre of oil. i encountered the same problem and was shocked. its also, stupid how there are no dipsticks.

First thing i would do is go to your dealer as its not normal after 730Km that you should put some oil so if you ask me call them first and see what they will tell you as you got a brand new car .

Your Mobil oil worries me from the start. Why Mobil?
I had VW and Audis all my life and always run into trouble with oils other than Castrol.
If your mobil oil is clean you are asking for a problem at 20,000.00km.
Check the oil for color at 3000km. It should NOT be clean.
