My imported a4- drl won't pass riv inspection
I just received an A4 2009 Convertible from Miami . It won't pass RIV inspection at Canadian Tire ; regulations require DRL to go on automatically .US models do not and have on/off button. I talked to two Ottawa Audi dealers and Audi Canada customer service. They say they don't have software to modify it and are no help at all. They don't even know if an aftermarket DRL kit can be insalled. Surely someone has recently imported an Audi and had similar issue . i can't licence and drive it ! help

Reprogram it, get someone in you are to use a vag-com and program it to Canada, and/or bypass the DRL Switch by pulling out the Headlight control **** to gain access to the DRL switch, once in there disconnect the two wires and clip them together, or rewire the ends, insulate it with electrical tape and you are done!

im sure it's reprogrammable... it has been so far with other audis... just take it to an independant audi mechanic and he/she should be able to take care of it... they just have to reprogram it with VAGCOM

gurvir44- all the relays and fuses are located under drivers side dash. Open your left driver side door and pry the plastic cover off of the dash(located on the side) then you'll see fuses and relays tucked in there.

Re: My imported a4- drl won't pass riv inspection
I live in Canada and imported my B6 A4 last year. I had to get DRLs going and it couldn't have been easier-you can do it yourself using a VAG-COM cable and the appropriate software (check Ross-Tech: Home for both) or take it to the stealership and have them do it. Shouldn't cost more than $50. To be clear, DRLs can be enabled without any hardware modifications whatsoever.
BTW, before 10 other people rip into you for it, next time use the forum search function before asking a question that's been asked and answered many times in the Audi forums...
cheers!
