So my wife and I are taking a trip from Mississauga to Quebec city for the long weekend. In total it is 820 Kms. I am wondering if I'd be able to get there on a single tank if I drive the car steadily.
Most kms I've ever gotten on a single tank is 840, back when the car was newer. Only happened once though, all highway. I'm wondering, has anyone done that drive on a single tank? If not, what's the most kms you've gotten in a 2.0t a4 on a tank?

 

Pretty good odds that you could achieve that but I know you won't have any fun in the process. Up to you - save a few dollars on a long drive or have some fun road/traffic/weather conditions permitting.

840km? Wow! I drove from Montreal to Miami (and back, of course) this Summer with mine. The most I ever got was about 780km... granted that was with air con on almost all the time and some not-so-steady driving. (As previous poster said, you do want to have some fun on the road!) I suspect that if I had been a little more mindful, I could have gotten closer to your numbers.

 

Best I've done is 750 km and that was near the early days with my A4 when I went easy on the throttle.
Don't see it ever happening again as this car is way too fun to go easy and save a 20 bucks or so.

 

The verdict:

It was hard, but I kept a light foot on the throttle on my way from quebec city back home to mississauga. I ended up doing a whopping 845 kms on the tank- the entire 820 km trip plus 25 kms more the next day. When I filled up the next day i put 59.7 litres into the car. Average speed was about 110-115.

 

Straight 850km @ 120kph with Shell V-pover gas full tank. 2 people.
2009 A4 Quattro with 95k kms on it.
That's in January driving from Saskatchewan to Alberta, Trans-Canada Highway.

 

Hard to believe you were doing 120 the whole way and got 850 km, but meh, maybe the v-power does give you more mileage...
It would only be practical to put in that octane level for long trip applications tho... it would just be a waste for daily driving.

 

Is V-Power not 91 octane only? Regardless....it wouldn't surprise me if the performance was better....in Canada, V-Power is "real gas" (ethanol free!!!!).

 

I think he put in 94.
91 would not get you 850 km, no way.
I'll put this to a test come Christmas time, when I make a trip up to Deep River from Oakville (~600 km).

 

V-Power is 91 octane, so I suspect it may have something to do with being ethanol free. I'll give it a go on a drive to Vermont over Christmas (although the weather may be a factor in mileage on that trip!).
