Re: best winter tire package 2009 A4?
The ipikes are great as well, I opted for the W300 since I do mostly hwy driving. The price is similar. $700 for tires only is about the same, I got the replica alloys as well. Package looks good and drives well.

Re: best winter tire package 2009 A4?
Been following the thread, thanks for the info. I'm probably going to follow and go to simply tire for the Hankook package for my 08 A4 Avant. When deciding between the ipikes and w300, excuse my ignorance but aren't the ipikes studded? Do you want to run studded tires if you are doing mostly city driving? I do drive to Cottage country every weekend.
thanks

Re: best winter tire package 2009 A4?
Speaking of high recommendations...
Got a set of Hankook i*Pike W409 mounted on 17s. As soon as I drove off the lot I felt a instant stick to the road. Didn't immediately notice ANY road noise. At LOW speeds when breaking you can hear some tire noise but it's bearly noticable. The tread design on the tires are increadible. I know they are not H rater tires but I'm not an aggressive driver.
$700 incl. tax (used my stock rims as I plan to get 19s for summer).
If you're interested, the guy is in Markham (Hwy 48 just north of 16th Ave.).

**don't have these on the A4 yet but will be as soon as I resolve the vibration issue

Re: best winter tire package 2009 A4?
No problem. BTW, for more feedback I'd suggest providing some add'l pertinent info such as where you drive as well as describing the kind of driver you are. If you stay in T.O. most of the time (very little snow), the preferred tire would likely be different than if driving to the ski hil ... The Hankook Icebear (W300) would be a very good tire if you dont see much snow but do like to drive a bit more aggressively when weather conditions allow it. The Bridgestone is a great snow tire but wont provide the handling that some may prefer if a more aggressive driver ...

Stevelev, I would say I drive mostly in T.O. but I do drive to the ski hills on weekends ... In terms of driving I'd say I'm more moderate than overly aggressive... unless the conditions are dry.

Re: best winter tire package 2009 A4?
NuAudi, I had the exact same considerations for my tire choice, live in toronto, but drive to the ski hill every weekend. I went to simply tire as they got good reviews on this thread. They were great and his recommendation was the W300 as it will be better when it is dry and fine in the snow considering how good the quattro system is. He said that if I didn't drive a quattro car, the ipikes would be better but the W300 will be fine on the Audi. I assume your A5 is Quattro. I got the tires two weeks ago and they are very quite and handle very nicely on the dry roads. I've yet to have any snow to try out their handling in tough conditions.
Try simply tire if you are in Toronto, best prices around I think. Got a nice package with the RS4 replica 17's.
hope this helps
