Hi, I'm looking into getting an A4 and have done some reading regarding the situation in Canada with the 8year/130k km warranty for 2009-2011 cars. What details would I check out for an used car to make sure I am covered when(if) hit with the oil consumption issue? I am worried, because I did see a lot of happy customers with the extended warranty, but I did see some customers turned away from this warranty as well.

Full service records as they can potentially deny your claim if you are missing even one oil change record. Most of all you'll need a good SA that can take your case to Audi Canada.

 

Also I would suggest you use only Motul 8100 Excess. the CPMS engines were (far) better at the oil consumption thing than previous 2.0 turbo variants. Don't get me wrong, it will still burn especially if you are screwing around with it. But once I switched to Motul (from Castrol) it was night and day in turns of oil burn. I figure that I can drive my car extremely aggressively now and experience the same oil burn as while using Castrol normally. But to the point of whether the CPM engines were better than previous one 2009-2011.5 the answer is FOR SURE.
