Default Audi A4 Door Rattle

From day one I noticed an unusual door rattle when I go over bumps with my Audi A4 2011. Sometimes it seems to affect more than one door too. I have taken the car to the dealer 4 times now, since July 2011 to address the issue. They have sprayed silicon and insulated the door panel but can't seem to solve the problem. It sounds kind of like a loose latch or something, not a rubbing or squeaking sound at all like I have heard people describe. Anyone else have this problem? It is really maddening and especially now when I seem to really be attuned to the rattle. One thing to note, when the window is down slightly it doesn't seem to happen at all.

I also have a driver side door rattle when the car goes over some bumps as well from day one. I received my 2012 A4 a few weeks ago contemplating whether to bring it in or not. If you do, let me know what your outcome is. My rattle almost sounds like the window mechanism just gets nudged or something. Other than that I love my car

on my 2011, turns out the aluminum trim in driver's door was rattling. they removed it and put in a wedge of felt behind. good as new.

I'm pretty convinced it has something to do with the window. But maybe I'll bring it in one day and have them take a look at both possibilities. It doesn't really bother me that much, but the car is just so quiet otherwise that it makes it more noticeable. Will update when I get some answers. Thanks!

My dealership has a pile of glue-on felt. They seem to be constantly wedging in felt in areas that seem to vibrate. Fairly common occurrence.

So today I adjusted the seat belt height thingy on the B-pillar slightly higher and magically the rattling stopped. Now my ride is perfectly quiet and rattle-free. Hope it doesn't come back. Will update if it does.

Hi All,

So I brought my A4 in to get the door rattle checked out. My dealership is amazing (Downtown Toronto Audi) they were very thorough. They used some sort of car stethoscope to check out where the sound is actually originating since they can sound like its from the door but actually come from somewhere else.

So they determined it was from the rubber seals in the sunroof and around the doors to be dried so they lubricated them and now all the rattling noise are gone. I've had it back for over a week now and over very rough city roads I hear no rattling! So far so good. Will update if it comes back, but wish me luck!
