Audi A4 2010
Ok, i'm a new owner of an audi, and i'm not sure if this happens with all the 2010 A4 models...
when i turn the car on, i hear a loud whirrrring noise...
happens for about a minute...and then stops.
what i've been told is that the car has a hepa filter...and when you start the car, it filters out the air inside the car.
any comments on this? thanksss

LOL I did not know there was a hepa filter...
think it only happens if the car is in a drive gear during startup.. otherwise you won't hear it. I think it's just part of the warmup cycle (higher idle speed)

Apparently ( which kinda makes sense). it has to do with the lubrication of the chains on start up, which i was told by service at Audi. I had the same concern at first when i got my car. the only problem i found with it, was that it pisses away oil like stupid.
no no i meant this noise manifests itself when i put the car in gear while it's still in the warmup phase (the first minute after a cold start when idle is high)
I have an Audi A5 2.0 2010 which is the same motor as you and it does the same as i got s
cared when i heard this the first time but about 30 seconds later it stops so i guess it should be normal
My guess, assuming you have quattro vechicles, is it's the fuel pump balancing out the fuel levels between the two gas tanks. Happened on my B5, and happens on my B6 & B7. Suspect the same applies for the B8.
Whats b5 b6 and b7, b8??
D: i see that a lot. lol im a new audi owner and its a new lingo for me.
i emailed audi canada...havent gotten a reply yet.
no one knows for sure huh.
Since its inception, the Audi A4 has been available in four generations, based on the Volkswagen Group 'B' series of automobile platforms. Audi's internal numbering convention therefore treats the A4 as a logical continuation of the Audi 80 lineage, hence the initial A4 was designated as the B5-series, followed by the subsequent B6 and B7, and the current B8.
Of the main body styles, it is (and always has been) available as a saloon/sedan variant, and an "Avant", which is Audi's name for an estate/wagon. The second (B6) and third generations (B7) of the A4 also had a Cabriolet version, but the Cabriolet was not retained for the current fourth generation (B
