I am about to purchase an A4 2.0T quattro
Rumour has it that towards the end of this year an A4 with a very powerful diesel engine will become available, is this correct and if so does anyone know what the expected arrival of this car would be?
I have to buy a new car prior to the middle of december as my lease on my current vehicle ( a BMW 328i) runs out

wow for a 3.0 thats very little horses, but for a diesel thats great. Where did you hear these news? TDI will become a lot more popular if this indeed is true! But im concerned about the price!

 

We won't see an A4 TDI until at least 2013, perhaps in 2012 but I doubt it.

 

its might "only" be ~240hp but it also provides 369lb-ft torque.....and a chipped 3.0LTDI is ~300HP and ~440lb-ft......is that good enough?

 

ahh how i love the diesel torque!!!! I dont know about getting it to 300 realistically. Thats a lot of performance out of a chip. And it will take time, giac and apr dont have it yet as there is no point in having it. They have one for the tourag 3.0 TDI. It gives extra 25% of power for a 225 hp engine all around. So in theory they should be able to get it to 300+ with the 250 hp engine, 315 to be exact. But thats still a long shot from now. And it will be pricey when they introduce it. It will take time to do it as the 250 HP engine will not be too similar to the 225 one.

 

MTM has a program for the 3.0TDI in the A4.....221kw/600Nm = ~300HP/440lb-ft

 

That's only 230 ponies, but they're available almost since the lowest revs --> full torque almost all the time. Unlike a petrol engine where torque comes later.
Usually essence engine are better for acceleration from start, diesel for take over acceleration (where petrol cars first need to change gear).

 

I just checked it out, very nice!!!! I don't pay attention to european tuners in honesty. But it looks like its possible and its done If it comes out, it will be a very nice lease option, god damn insurance is still having butt seks with me!!!

 

I was told this week that the 3.0 TDI diesel engine will not come to Canada until it has been well accepted in the States. Obviously for every one Audi sold in Canada, there are 10 sold in the USA.
Apparently the US customers still don't warm up to the thoughts of driving a clean and very torque engine.
I was also told by the same dealer that the 2011 A4 with the 8 speed transmission will get somewhere around 42 miles pre gallon on the highway
