Default 2009 audi a4 brakes are disappointing

im lovin' my new Audi a4, but am quite displeased with the brakes.

they are pretty powerful and sensitive, but i find that they are jerky as you come to a full stop. I find it difficult and almost impossible to come to a dead stop and release slightly so there is no last-minute jerk backwards when the car stops completely.

is this just because the brake pads are new or do you guys have problems with the brakes too?

No issues with mine... (which I picked up on Friday). I've been careful about not stomping on the brakes though since it's got only 200km..

How big of a jerk backwards? how much would it tilt your coffee?

well most cars i've had in the past, you can come to a full stop without feeling any jerk back.

however it is more difficult to do it with this car or even impossible unless you let it roll forward a bit first

MY GF's 2008 A4 has awesome brakes in all respects. Are the 2009's different ? You know you're supposed to ease up on the brakes as you come to a stop right ?

I also feel that 2009 A4's braking is a little more difficult to come to a smooth stop compared to other cars that I have driven. It is not impossible to do so and now I am better at it and get it "right" about 70% of the time...

I'm up to 1200km.. some city, some highway, lots of back roads. I have NO issue at all with the brakes of the A4. It can stop on a dime and offer good control on the braking force. Smooth stop all the time (by releasing the brakes a bit before it stops completely but I do that without even thinking about it, just like I use the clutch..)

I prefer this to the stupid feature on the BMW that does the "releasing of the brakes just before the full stop" automatically.. there's way too much electronic stuff in cars these days and that's not a replacement for proper driving techniques.

The 09 feels no different to me than the 07.

It is a little known fact that the piston design has changed on the 09, the brakes are also 20% larger...
