Default wire tap... help please

hey guys,

i'm trying to install led strips and want to tap the wire's somewhere under the hood so that they remain on at all times that the ignition is on... originally I was going to use a wire-tap into the DRL's but after looking at the 14 wires that exit/enter the connector piece I decided to come on here first for some advice ... any help is much appreciated

edit: 2006 audi a4 2.0 T - essentially I'm just looking for a wiring diagram for the 14 pins...

What sort of headlights do you have Bi-Xenon or halogen? I know for Bi-Xenon, the DRL's go off as soon as you turn the headlights on. Halogens - I think the DRL is high beam at reduced voltage, so that circuit also likely off when the headlights are turned on for normal operation.

do you think it would be possible to tap a single +ve LED wire into both the +ve DRL and +vecity lights so that when the switch is in 'auto' it will grab power from the DRL during the day time and when it switches to the xenons it will grab power from the citylight?

Possibly - likely need a diode in place to stop any reverse current flow.
