Default Problem filling up gas

Hello

I have a 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro Automatic, my problem is when going to the gas pump to fill up with gas it begins filling up, then stops (as in the gas tank is full). So i start the gas pump again and it fills up some more and it repeats itself until it really is full. Sometimes it fills up $5 before I have to reset it, sometimes $25 but it is really annoying, any help?

Also when my tank is full and I turn on my car the gas level says I only have about 3/4 of a tank. Is this normal?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

I had the same problem with my 07 A4 2.0T... The problem filling up remains, but can be mitigated by pulling the nozzle out a bit or pumping the gas a bit slower. The dealer adjusted the fuel guage so that it now points to full when the tank is full.

The interesting thing was that when I picked up the car from the dealer the fuel gauge indicated that the tank was full, but never did so when we started filling up.

Try leaving the car running while filling, gas tanks are pressurized but while its running it puts a vacuum on the tank and helps alievate the issue.

Follow this advice if you would like to see a CEL each time you're done filling up.

I'm not even gonna say try it jokingly
DONT GIVE ADVICE IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT.
That's the blind leading the blind, you dont get anywere.
dont put the nozzle in so far, the bubbles are comming up and triggering the full release, this happens on lot's of cars, there isnt anything you can do except dont put it in so deep, just past the spring they put on it is fine. as long as it's in the hole your good.

Yeah i always get that, depending on the sniffer on the end of the nozel. Some stations do it and its bluddy annoying and others dont.. But like others have said just pull it out abit. lets the fumes escape a bit.

I guess the breather hole for the tank isnt much..
