That is pretty common with transmissions. Usually the plug on the engine oil pan is magnetic this way it can be cleaned with every oil change (if need be). You would hope that once an engine is broken in, there wouldn't be too much wear.

well I had the level checked today and got a phone call - Sorry I have bad news.
The fluid is up at the right level, but its gray - which is not a good sign -> transmission maybe shot.
I'm going to get the filter changed, and new fluid put in. Cheaper than a new transmission.. and who knows maybe its been caught early enough, that it wil be ok.
We'll see. The mechanic said that the filter maybe plugged, so its stopping fluid from getting upto the torque converter when its going. He won't know for sure, until the pan is off.
