Engine pulsing when cold

Re: Engine pulsing when cold
Wow, looks like i'm not getting this service done anytime soon.
Here is the reply from the dealer
Good Morning, I had one of my technicians check into your requests,
To perform the TSB update will take between 2-3.0 hours labor (@ $110.00/hr.)
the second procedure requires the removal of the transmission to replace the torque convertor, the labor will be approximately 6.0 hours and the parts would run $2526.60 + HST on both the parts and labor.
We checked and there is only 2 of the convertors in North America and would need to be special ordered in from the USA.
The shop foreman feels it would be in your best interest to bring the car by so that he could test drive it with you to see exactly what you are experiencing before delving into a expensive repair.
He is away today and tomorrow for training and will be back on Thursday if you wish to arrange a drive with him.
Let me know if there is any other questions needed to be answered,

Re: Engine pulsing when cold
Well that's not as good as a cold beer on hot summer day ... not even as good as a hot beer on a cold summer day!!!
My car has to go in for a CPO covered timing belt change in a month or so and I was wondering if they did it then would the labor be less?

Re: Engine pulsing when cold
Hi guys,i just bought a A4 2008 (manuel 6 speed) two weeks ago the car as low milage with only 60K. The car is an Audi certified so they had to check everything up before delivering it, they changed the PCV,Cam Follower and the Diverter Valve (all on extented waranty).
There was a couple of cold days last week and the car was doing the idle bouncing so if someone thinks that it's related with the Cam Follower or the PCV it's not!

Re: Engine pulsing when cold
If only when driving and its a tip then it's probably the torque converter issue that many people have reported. If not covered by warranty then expect $$$$ or live with it.
I'm wondering if it could be something as simple that audi has spec'd the wrong viscosity fluid for our tiptronics seeing as it is more pronounced when cold and seems to all but disappear when the transmission gets up to normal temps.
