Default Engine Light

Hi guys..

Sorry to keep making new posts but i cant seem to find this problem.

P0455 Evaporative emission system leak detected (Large Leak)..

This is the second time in the past month or so that its come on and i just clear it and it dose not come on for a long time.. What does it mean? and it seems like it to me that it eats more gas when it comes on.

You probably need a new gas cap, or the gas cap in not on properly. Evap is a closed system that sucks fumes out of the gas tank and into the engine instead of releasing them into the air. If there is a leak in the system it throws a DTC, the most common suspect is the gas cap.

Anything within the evap system that could be broken or cracked. There will be a hose that runs from the tank to the charcoal canister and a purge valve that is connected to the intake. As soon as the system loses vacuum it will trip the code.

Same issue here. Light came on the day after I got the car, took it to autozone, code p0455.

Next day, after filling up the tank, engine had trouble staying running. after a few tries, it worked fine.

This was two days ago, and today, my gas gauge indicated I still had 1/4 tank of gas, but car stalled and didn't start until I added gas.

Is this related to the Evap system leak?

Could my gas meter gauge be bad?

I have scheduled to have the dealer's service department look at it on friday.

Is it safe to drive the car until then or should I park it until its fixed?

So I replaced the N80 valve yesterday, and took it for a fill up.

Started up perfectly, no fluttering or stalling, Im a happy camper...

Today, I was sitting in a drive through line for like 20 minutes and my car died.

engine fluttering again, wouldn't start.

I had a full tank, so it couldn't be the gas like last time, so I thought, let me shake the fuel tank... Shook the car around and voila! car started.

Thoughts....?

I suggest to do a smoke test.. It will indicate if the vacuum lines or cani
ster has any leak or blockage
