Default Driver Information System - Check btn Sequence...

Can one of you A4 gurus decode this check button sequence? I assume that everything is OK but the symbology and the colors throw me off. The manual does as abysmal job of explaining this.

Here's the youtube link to the video of the sequence.

(the forum messes with the link - sorry for the huge)

Everything is fine, its checking coolant, oil levels, temperature, bulbs, brakes, washer fluid, etc... and then gives you the "OK" at the end.

Were you interested in what each symbol means?

Yes, what's with the top symbol on the oil pressure and temperature display with red X through them?

And why red and yellow if everything is OK? Green would be the better choice.

There really is no need to use the "Check" button. If there's an issues with something that the Audi Monitors (i.e. Oil Lever, Coolant Level, Lights etc...), your Audi will warn you.

Yellow and red because it flashes up the actual symbols that come up when something IS wrong and you're driving along.

The green OK at the end is the sign that you're fine, stop worrying.

As said above, really not much need to use that button as its monitoring all those systems anyways when you start the car and put it in gear.

As for the symbols with the red X through them, those are bulbs, the ones with the circle around it is the brake light bulb. That is what will come up if one burns out at some point.
