This past weekend, while driving down I-75 in Atlanta, my perfectly maintainanced, 61,000 mile 2006 A4 2.0T started vibrating, lost all power and died all within the span of about 15 seconds. The check engine and epc lights came on and the car wouldn't crank.

I had it towed to the local Audi Dealer (Jim Ellis) and the called me today saying the cylinder head broke and the car needed new cylinder head, cams, valves and a turbo bipass valve. $4,700.00 dollars.

IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIX THIS YOURSELF OR FOR LESS COST.

I will never buy an audi again. This is complete bull$hit!

Don't knock all audi's now.. You should do some reseach on this motor as it is known for issues such as this.. I googled it as i was intreaged by your thread and read nothing but bad things about the 2.0T inthe A4. However, i'm sure not all are so bad, but....

Of course you can fix it for less if you do it yourself. I guarantee a lot of that bill is labor costs.. but you must know what your doing.. Grab a maintenance manual for step by step guides. ALso try finding Genuine used parts to cut the costs.

 

Do you have 90 days to spend on it yourself?
The price sounds right. This car will never be the same again. This engine is a goner forever. Even if the head is fixed it will be leaking, shaking, rough idling.
If you decide to fix it - try to sell it ASAP.

There is another solution. Go to German Car Specialist and ask how much he wants for a used engine. I bet it will be cheaper and this engine will be still good.

Next time when you decide on AUDI go for the real engine like 3.0 or 2.8.
