Smile [B7] Please help me about maintain & repair for a used A4

Hi, I'm newbie in this forum. I wrote this in another forum but I couldnt find any good adivise there so I posted here too.

I'm gonna get a 2006 3.2 Quattro 96000 kilometres with premium package from a dealer tomorrow. paying about $24,000. And this is my first car. I need to maintain and repair it myself if possible. I'm definitely gonna have inspection at Eurotech, before I buy it.

I have done quite many researches about repairing and maintaining a audi, it seems like very expensive. Just worry about those things, because I have little knowledge about a car. Until now, I couldnt figured out about average prices for them. Guess, I need to changes many things at mileages 110k which is quite soon. So, could you guys let's me know what things should I do, also how can I get parts with reasonable prices.

ps. I'm living in around Kitchener / Waterloo (Canada)area, I can easily go to Toronto to fix a car if necessary.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, you can buy parts online, for the timing belt water pump etc. check out ECS tuning, for the diagnostics software check out Ross-tech.com for the manual on how to repair the car check out bently publishers. Or if you buy a vag-com you can get a discount on the manual from them. Make sure you get the digital version as it is a lot easier to find stuff then the printed version.

BTW, the 3.2 has a Timing Chain, not belt.

Timing chains still stretch iv had one jump in a datsun and smash the valves. They may take longer to go but when they do you end up with the same result.

1) Learn about carbon buildup on your FSI Direct Injection Engine
2) Find ways to stop it - otherwise...it'll be expensive to fix.

I have come up with a good solution and posted it here:
VWvortex Forums: Eureka? - A new way to fight carbon buildup on Intake valves?

Other than that, vent to atmosphere catch cans or recirculation catch cans

Welcome to the world of Audi's
German cars are like attractive girls - they're heck expensive to maintain but boy are they a lot of fun

I would suggest that if you're going to buy an Audi out of warranty, you'd better have either: a.) Good skills and no fear of mechanical things
b.) A trustworthy mechanic and lots of $$
c.) A reliable back up car

Don't get me wrong- I love Audis (I have 5), but they can be a handful, and $$expensive$$ if you're unable to do some of your own work.

In a datsun they were known as a metal rubber band. That's not possible in the V6 because of the tensioners and slippers. There has never been a documented case in customer or race use.

yonafo, if you don't have the mechanical knowledge and specialized tooling, don't waste your time getting into this type or maintenance, it's not worth the headache. Hire a tech that understands this technology.

Yonafo, I give you credit for asking these questions.
It's very easy to fall in love with Audis (as I said, I have 5), as they're all wheel drive, very well made, and, well, they're [B]AUDI[B].
Unfortunately, all this technology comes at a price, and expensive service and maitenance is that price.
A prestige car will only give you prestige if you can afford that price.
Otherwise it's just a pretty thing in your driveway, not good for much of anything.
