Re: What a difference Wheels & Suspension Make...
The whole setup was about $2000 bux. I bought the rims at Wheels Direct is scarborough and the springs from a place in BC. The springs can be had on ebay for really cheap as well.
The ride on the springs is really good, but the shocks seems a bit bouncy. The car is lowered 1.75 inches so the shocks will have a tougher time keeping up with the new ride height. Overall the ride is very acceptable, comfortable and does not bang when you go over pot holes etc. My previous jetta was lowered 1.5 inches on the stock shocks for about 3 years and never had any problems so I would suspect that this may be the same way. Either way, changing the shocks is a pretty easy job so when they go, it's a simple swap out in the rear, and the front is a bit more work, but not too bad. The wheels are usually sold with a +42et but I ordered them specifically with a +35et to bulge them out a bit. Most places that I saw who sold them offered only the 42et but a few also did the 35 so I wanted to be sure to get the 35. That extra 7mm makes all the difference looks wise. |
