Hey guys I'm having a problem with my 02 1.8t it all started with the stereo not turning on even when I tried to restart th car and turn it on still didn't work and then when I was driving it sounded like a loud duck noise comin from the engine or exhaust I parked the car on the driveway and checked back later and the radio lights were on but no sound comin out and it wouldn't turn off I don't know if the two problems are related but help would be appreciated

 

Duck as in Quack Quack?? I'd pull the fuse on the stereo and see if you still have the sound. If not your stereo has gone Quackers.... LOL man, I kill myself.....

 

Yea it sounds like a very loud quack but it's not coming frm the stereo or speakers it's coming from the engine bay or exhaus I don't know if this is a sign of a failing turbo or somthing along those lines

 

Took the fuse for the radio and put it back in the sterio problem sound now he loud duck noise

?? I'm still trying to find out what's wrong I solved the radio problem but still
have that loud annoying quack coming from somewhere

 

You need to give us more details:

Does the sound happen at idle. Does it increase under acceleration? Give us as much as you know and we may be able to help.

 

it honestly comes at a random. not at idle but while im driving. when i am accelerating or jus staying the same speed the sound comes randomly. my buddy said that from the outside it sounds like its coming from the exhaust but who knows. i dont know how to explain the sound other then it being a loud quack of some kind

 

Check your diverter valve. I had that sound thats what it was. It is turbo run on.

 

I have a aftermarket forge diverter valve and the sound doesn't seem to be coming from it because I can hear the dv go off when accelerating and it's different then the quack
