Hey everyone,

I own at 2005 A5 V6 3.0L Quattro. For the past week my traction control light has been turning on randomly. It usually happens the first few minutes of me driving the car. It'll light up on the dashboard and when I press the button to turn off, it doesn't. The only thing that seems to work is if I shut the car completely off, then restart. It usually fixes the problem for the duration of my ride to work. When I press the button manually when the light is off, it works just fine.

Is this a precursor to a potential failure in my car? Is it a warning? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

sometimes the t/c light is triggered if there is a fault with the maf sensor.

a scan should tell you what fault codes are showing.

 

could also be the brake light switch, i had the same problem on mine, $5 plus tax from the dealership and i had a new one and no more esp light.

 

Or it's a wheel ABS sensor.
