I've got mine done for 720$...lol even at audi its only 850$

For a 3 litre, a 1400 dollar timing belt job is very reasonable and at this cost you really should ask yourself if the tech really knows exactly how much work is involved because if he did, I don't think he would be quoting you 1400. Be careful....

Induktion charged me $1500. and replaced all the parts that the Dealer
would have with upgraded parts not OEM parts. The OEM water pump is plastic
the upgrade is metal and higher grade. Also a gasket started to leak months later and they replaced it for free as part of the service with no aditional labor cost.

BS the dealer charges $2300+ for a B6 3.0L TB change!

The story is that these parts will fail and should be replaced with this service. Of the three companies I spoke to, they all told me the same thing. Maybe that's why my quote was high.

When you did the work on your A6, did you just do the belt or the thermostat and water pump too.
Reason being if it's a lot of work just to get to the timing belt. You may as well do the rest of the timing system BEFORE it breaks. This isnt something you want to break and try and fix.
