studing winter tires

Has any one installed studded winter tires on thier audi? Is it worth doing and what are some of the negatives. I live in the country and the roads can get etremely icey at times so that is why I am considering studded tires.

In Southern Ontario it's illegal for us to get studded tires. I'm sure you will get loads more traction but if you drive on dry roads they will be loud as hell.
