Hey Guys,

This is really bugging me :P
Why is this still on after the car is turned off and the key is out. I want to leave my phone charger plugged in but its gonna kill the battery.

Does it stop working after like 10 minutes or something?
Or is it permanently on until I unplug it.

As far as I know, they constantly provide power to what ever is plugged in unless the device has a off switch.

And that's what i've found with my 08.

If I leave my phone plugged in, it will always be charging, but with my V1 I can turn the device off and it wont draw power.

 

If your phone charger can discharge your car battery, in between your uses of the car each day I would say you have a more serious electrical problem to deal with

On a more serious note a possible short circuit in the charger would be the main cause of concern but the lighter circuit will have a fuse in place so that should protect against that issue.

I wouldn't worry about the lighter circuit being permanently live; just make sure not to drop any coins into the socket.
