Default overboost

Hey everyone,

I took my 03 A4 1.8T(first audi) to the dealer a few weeks ago. I went for an oil change and the engine light was on at this time. After the oil change, the mechanic checked the car with his device and the result was an overboost issue. He said it was nothing major.

Now when I'm driving, especially on the highway... when I rev up to 3000/RPM, the car makes a weird noise, it sounds like a low-pitch horn, and the only way to get rid of it is to let go of the pedal. I've noticed it happens around 3K+, usually when the car shifts to the next gear (not exactly sure what gear). Speed is around 100+km/h

Is this a major problem? a winter issue? is it my tires?
The noise is not apparent when I have more than two/three people in the car. I'm stuck because it only happens sometimes. When I purchased the car a few months ago it was perfectly fine(no cold weather conditons.)

Thanks and hope you can help!

The mechanic did a pressure-test as well and mentioned that everything was fine.

is the check engine light back on again? hard to diagnose without a fault code.

Yes it is.. and I'm assuming it is the same problem.
Unfortunately I don't have the fault code.

Without the fault code, it is hard to diagnostic your issue..
