And sorry I was slightly wrong. Apprently the second o2 sensor is strickly for emissions.

The front one has a little more stuff to do.

It is a wide-band and feeds air/fuel info to the ECU, so that the ECU can then adjust the fuel trims accordingly.

So yes that would factor into all 3 of those issues you are having.

I would suggest getting it changed asap. Although it probably wont do any damage, your going to have power, fuel effiency issues.

 

the only other concern is that it could also slowly burn out your catalytic converter, which will cost you a lot more money.

The front sensor is pretty visible in the engine and shouldnt be to hard for you to change unless its really stuck.

Would anyone know how much work is involved in changing the O2 sensor (assuming no rust)? How long would it take a local shop to do?

 

they would charge you an hour labour tops im sure, maybe $100. When you look in the engine bay you can see it and have access it to it without removing anything.


call a independent audi type shop and they will give you a quote.
