Default need help, possibly turbo or DV problem

Hi,

I need some help, in a last couple days i noticed a loss of power, especially when I'm shifting in tiptronic. I can hear the turbo working but when i press it hard no turbo kick as it used to be before. Today i tried to rev the engine in park position and it was very slow response, after 20 min back to normal. I'm going to my mechanic tomorrow to check it out, I'm thinking may be i have a faulty DV or the hose is leaking. I installed my HP DV 1 month ago so may be i did something wrong or the hose got loose. Any ideas guys?

thanks

Sounds like a boost leak.

There was a few model years when its common for the turbo wastegate to suddenly fail, it happened to me, i'm about to change the turbo because of it. Its not too hard to check, just remove the airbox and the 3 bolts holding the catalytic converter to the back of the turbo, then you can push the cat over a bit to look inside and see if it's still intact. You should check the DV first though, its even easier.

I did that myself and found the tennis ball was a bit small for the pipe and probably would not have had a good seal, being soft & fuzzy. Instead i found a metal jar lid the perfect size, drilled a hole in the middle to accept a $1 tire valve, with a little hot glue for good measure. worked like a charm.

Just came today from my mechanic, DV valve was good no leak, but he also noticed the difference before and now, so he vagged the car and found 1 code, it was a trany code, which he said usually reduce the power. He cleared the code so now it's a little bit better but i still unsatisfied may be i just getting paranoiac Also was a bit disappointed when i asked him about stage 1+ (right now i have Giac stage 1 ) and he said that he is not recommending upgrading any higher, and that this is kind of the top for A4. He said that they had many examples when A4's had a problems with trany and torque converter after upgrading to stage 2. Any thoughts or experience, by the way the mechanic is from (independent tuning ) grate folks good service.

The best thing to use is an inner tube. You cut a big square around the valve stem and clamp it down with a hose clamp.

Independent Tuning knows their stuff. He'd probably make more money just slapping a Stage 2 in. Instead he's letting you know the truth.
