Making quattro into rwd?

Okay this sounds real crazy, but I saw the youtube clip and some guy weld the differential and make the quattro into rwd.
Is that for real?
The car was b5 a4 1.8t I guess, and trust me itz rwd.
Is it possible to do it? and is it possible to change to awd back again from rwd?

what's the downside of doing this?
550 + the core charge (refundable) doesn't sound bad at all ( I know labor will be flying, but....)
