How do you spend 5k on maintenance and no work were warrantied. That is crazy...

I had to do the 85K service and the 120K service not because of the kms on the car but because of the time. My water pump was leaking when I did the big 120K service.

The $5000K would have been much worse if I went to a stealership.

 

what was that 5k spent on doing.

 

Tthe 85k and 12k are few hundred dollars. Not sure what the other $ was spent on.

If you have to spend $5000 on maintenance or even repairs it's time to sell and move on. Problems will only get worse and more costly.

Multi Rib Belt (not sure why this was replaced again, calling mechanic on that one)

I should adjust the maintenace total down to about $4500 as I did have a insurance claim in there.

Agreed I should sell it. Heading to VW right now to check out the 2011 TDI models. I am afraid to ask what a 2005 Audi Avant 1.8T 6sp manual with 107,000kms is worth

 

the bolded are regular maintenance things you have to do on every car although ours may be more expensive I wouldnt consider these to be an extra pain in the *** making the car more worth selling then keeping

 

For the mileage at which the vehicle was bought (70,000km) I would add the timing belt, water pump, rib belt, tensioner and valve cover gasket as normal maintenance for that mileage as well; that cost should have been factored into the original purchase price as required maintenance within the next 2 years.

You've just completed a bunch of major maintenance that will cover you for the next 5-6 years. If I were the buyer, that would be exactly the type of thing I'd be looking for.

Hold on to the car for another 3 years and enjoy the benefits of the major maintenance you've just completed. My 2c worth.

Unfortunately you bought this car at it's most expensive period. Still new enough that it's worth something but just old enough to need all it's major maintenence (plus a few bad breaks looking at your list.). As for the value of your car, you could maybe max out at 14-15K. For reference, I bought my car (same as yours) 1 year ago for $15000. It's a high mileage example (170000!) but was in excellent condition and fully optioned excluding nav.

 

Count me in with these guys.
